Privacy
What this site collects, which is close to nothing.
The short version
Biohacker Life is a static website. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which articles get read. There is no advertising network, no social tracking pixel, and nothing here is sold to anyone.
What is actually loaded
- Page files and images are served from our own domain.
- Two web fonts (Lora and Lato) are loaded from Google Fonts. That request tells Google your IP address and browser.
- Google Analytics 4 loads a script from Google and sends it information about your visit: pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser, and how you arrived. Google processes this on our behalf and we see it only as aggregate reports.
That is the complete list of external requests on this site. A content blocker will stop the Google requests and the site will work normally without them.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies — typically `_ga` and an ID-specific `_ga_*` — used to distinguish one visitor from another across pages and visits. They expire on their own, and clearing site data removes them.
We set no cookies of our own. There is no login, so there is no session cookie.
If you are in the UK or EU, analytics cookies of this kind ordinarily require your consent before they are set, and this site does not currently ask for it. We are addressing that; in the meantime, browser settings and content blockers will refuse them, and Google Analytics can be opted out of directly through Google's own browser add-on.
Server logs
Our host records standard access logs — IP address, timestamp, page requested, user agent — for security and troubleshooting. These are not linked to identities and are not used for profiling.
Accounts and mailing lists
There are none. This is a static blog with no sign-up, no login and no mailing list, so there is no account data to hold in the first place.
Your rights
Write to hello@biohackerlife.blog to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. If you are in the UK or EU, you have these rights under UK GDPR and GDPR respectively, and we will honour them regardless of where you live.
